Fly Fishing the Missouri River with Marshall Knick

Fly Fishing the Missouri River with Marshall Knick

Marshall with a brown trout on the Missouri River, MT
Jack fished the Missouri River with his son-in-law, Marshall Knick. It was coming up, the water was a bit cloudy but the managed to hook some fish. Jack caught this fish and Marshall is holding it. Josh Lauer has a photo of Marshall and the bigger brown that he caught. When Josh sends it to us, I will post it, too.

I had to include photos of Jack’s daughter, Hannah – of course married to Marshall, and their son’s Tristen and Tait!

See the photos in the Picasa slideshow below.

We were fishing for trout, pike and small mouth bass. The photo was taken south of Buffalo Bridge (south of Polson, Montana). The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes manage this wonderful fishery.

September is an amazing time to fish western Montana. The weather is cooler, the fish are feeding and variety is the spice of life. Boyce Tollison and his sons, Mike and Tim fished with Wapiti Waters for three days in September. Jack Mauer and Dave Heimes guided them on three rivers. I want to post a few photos, one of Boyce’s trout from the Bitterroot River and then Mike and his trout from the Clark Fork. Next, see a slide show with photos of Boyce, Tim and Mike. Thanks for coming guys, Jack and Dave had a great time with you!

Cuttbow and Rainbow Trout on the Bitterroot River with Rachel Weismann-Tsukamoto

Wapiti Waters has been fishing like crazy with not much time for photos. Jack finally got in last night early enough for me to snag some photos.

This slide show is 3 photos taken on the Bitterroot river of Rachel Weissman-Tsukamoto, daughter of Irv Weissman and Ann Tsukamoto. They were at their home in the valley with family and friends, many of which are from Stanford University School of Medicine where Irv is Director of the Institute of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine. Ann also works in stem cell research. Living in CA doesn’t deter them from fishing. Irv grew up in Great Falls, MT and they come to their Montana home frequently to relax, enjoy mountain life and fish. It has been fun to watch Rachel as she and her love of fishing grow.

Libuse Jerabek, a colleague of Irv’s, was here also, but we didn’t get new photos. Here are a few from last fall.

Keith Oden, sons David and Travis; Richard Campo, son Richard; Jeff Cockrill, son Colton; and David Graham fished with Wapiti Waters on the Bitterroot River. The big surge of our spring run-off happened earlier and this group happened to hit the “coolest temps” of our spring fishing. They managed to get out all three days, catch fish and see the river with quite a bit of water.
