Jeremy and Becky Anderson went to the Bitterroot Trout Unlimited Annual Banquet last September. They had a great time and won the bid on a fishing trip with Wapiti Waters. Today was the day and boy, did they catch fish! Next years BRTU Banquet is Friday, September 25 – 2009 Annual BRTU Banquet, 5:30 pm, our 30th!!! Mark your calendar and plan to attend. Visit BRTU’s site at http://www.brtu.org/
Jeremy sent these terrific photos with this note:
Jack,
Thank you for a great time fishing on Saturday. Becky and I enjoyed it and learned a lot. We will definitely be coming back for more. Here are some pics for your website.
Thanks again,
Jeremy Anderson
Thank you, Jeremy and Becky. Jack really enjoyed his day with both of you.
See the slideshow below for all four photos from the Big Hole River fly fishing day.
Jeff and Billy fished the Big Hole with Jack for a few days. Here are the photos that they sent me – taken with their camera. I have yet to see what is on Jack’s camera. I will post those as soon as he has the time to give it to me. He has been very busy with fishing clients.
6/22: I just updated the slideshow below with a few photos from Jack’s camera.
Jack and Dave Heimes guided some of our favorite clients on the upper Big Hole yesterday. Mike was out numbered by three women, Susan, Peggy and Joyce. It was big water, but not too big and the conditions were “pre-salmonfly hatch.” Susan could hardly stop catching. She caught fish after fish after fish! Peggy was the designated photographer with Jack’s camera.
We drove through the Big Hole Valley a few days ago on our way to Bozeman and Billings. The slideshow below starts just east of Lost Trail Pass (it was snowing on our way over) and then visits the Big Hole River near Wisdom, Wise River, and Divide, Montana. Click the town names for more information on the Visit Montana site.
The river was big and fast, the weather was overcast and in the 45 degree range, but we saw a few boats with people fishing…not sure what the success rate was.
Jack is a permited Fly Fishing Outfitter for the Big Hole, has fished and guided on it for over 30 years, and loves that special high mountain valley. Click Wapiti Waters Big Hole web page for more information, including more links.
In this post you will see what some of our rivers are like through various years in the month of May.
May is one of the most unpredictable months, but if the rivers are not too big, the fishing is fantastic and the weather is nice, not too hot, not too cold.
Which rivers will be best this year in May? It depends on the snowpack and weather, stay tuned or give Jack at Wapiti Waters Fly Fishing Montana a call at 800-254-5311.

The Big Hole is a wonderful river. It is quite a bit higher in elevation than the other rivers we fish with much of the Big Hole valley floor above 6000 feet. Today Jack is using his raft because the water levels are also lower than the Bitterroot, Clark Fork and Blackfoot. A raft doesn’t make much noise when it hits the rocks, etc.
Bob and Peggy are heading back to Ohio next week and we are having this years last fishing fling on this amazing river.
